2024 Canine companions for independence - Hill Country Volunteer Chapter. The Hill Country Volunteer Chapter was established in 2023 after many years of being a Canine Companions Group. Our chapter serves the Austin, Georgetown, San Antonio area and consists of volunteers, puppy raisers, and graduate teams who actively work to support and further the mission of Canine Companions.

 
In 1989, National Board Member Emily Williams responded to an ad in a local newspaper to adopt a Canine Companions for Independence breeder dog.
